Welcome to the new series where we interview Shadow Priests from all over WoW. Here we get their take on rotations, the class and WoW in general.
Today we talk to Laedydurte, a level 74 shadow priest who loves Shadowform, plays a confused warlock, and is interested in underground hip hop.
Who are you? Laedydurte “Jenkins”
What are you? Level 74 NE Shadow Priest
Where are you? PvP server Frostwolf
Armory? Clicky.
Website? www.myspace.com/badhabittz (music site, if anyone is interested in underground hip-hop)

Where did you get that name?
My nickname is Durt in RL and all my toons are named around that scheme.
So how long have you played WoW?
Forget the year, but it was in February of the 1st year of release.
How are you leveling? 5 mans? grinding?
Quests (for the lore/gold) and instancing for the practice.
What’s your typical spell rotation?
VE, VT, DP, SW:D, MB, SW:P, MF (refresh and wand as needed and pop Renew when necessary)
Were you always Shadow?
I leveled as Holy until dual specs came out.
How do you compare leveling as holy to leveling as shadow?
IMO, the only real difference is the time it takes between mobs. I mean, obviously, you have the whole healing vs dmg aspect of things. But you really use the same system or concept of dots/nukes. Holy = holy fire, dp, sw:p, mb, smite, etc.. Shadow = (drop, holy fire and smite. add in VE, VT, MF) Holy seems to burn more mana when you’re on the offensive.
I can’t speak on Disc as I’ve never specc’d Disc ever, but I’m sure from the way it was ALL about PvP back in the day, it definitely had it’s pluses. But as Shadow, it seems you can go through 2-3 more mobs w/o having to stop and drink. And now that we have replenishment, you can go even further. Plus, I think as a class that can dmg and heal itself, you tend to feel you can push yourself a bit further when it comes to mobs. I know when I was Holy, I tended to be very cautious about what and how many mobs I’d pull at a time.
She’s already my main
During most of BC, I raided on my rogue. Near the end, I decided I wanted to level my priest for a change of pace and to help the guild. RL setbacks got in the way (Hint : Holidays) and I’m a lil behind the curve in that regard. But yeah, this is and will be my main from now on.
Do you plan on raiding at 80?
I’m a raider at heart. I love instances and downing bosses. And I love the team aspect of it. I’ve been w/ my guild since the day I started playing so I’m very attached to these guys. If they are raiding, then I’m trying to get my butt in gear (all puns intended) so I can raid too!
What’s your favorite thing about Shadow Priest?
As noobish as it sounds, Shadowform!! I love the look and the sound when casting it. Awesome effect.
What’s the one thing you feel they need to fix about Shadow Priest?
I sometimes feel my dmg output is low compared to others in my groups. But I’m not a theorycrafter so don’t hold me to anything like that. In all honesty, I’m happy w/ my Spriest. I can do dmg AND give support to the heals while in a group. I feel like a Combat Medic sometimes.
I agree with you! I love being able to dps down something yet being able to swoop in and save the day when needed. What are your other alts and characters?
Atm, I have a 70 Human rogue, a 60 troll DK, a 41 Belf Mage (that I play w/ my wife), a 61 Human warlock that I just joke around w/, and a 65 Belf hunter that I kill spare time w/ (laundry days and when the wife’s getting rdy for a social event). I also have a level 12 Undead Destro warlock who dabbles in RP (she thinks she’s a mage, ha!). a few others that I play to kind of learn the other classes but are non-mentionable.
LOL! Your warlock in awesome. What’s your favorite thing or feature about WoW?
Dual Spec!! And the Mounts!!!
I think that would open up more Legolas impersonators! What’s your biggest pet peeve in WoW?
I don’t want to get into a casual vs hardcore rant, but it irks me that so much content has been introduced in an effort to appease the folks who choose to zoom through the new stuff. Which, IMHO, makes the recent content obsolete much faster than it should. Not to mention, it just creates this atmosphere of wasted content and continuous big fixes. Just seems so unnecessary to me.
Let’s conclude on a high note. What was your favorite achievement to get?
“Make Love not Warcraft” it’s funny and quirky and I’m a fan of Southpark. It’s also my favorite b/c the 1st time I got it, my wife and I were playing on my mage and her warlock. This warrior who was 2-3 lvls higher kept trying to gank us and we kept killing him. So for whatever reason I decided to /hug him , just to be a jerk I guess. It was so awesome to get the achievement for it
