Shadow Priest Glyphs

For someone that doesn’t alt- tab out to check important things like glyphs and talent points XD the auction house can be a real pain in the butt when it comes to glyphs. For starters, its not properly organized and thanks to the lovely graphics you can’t tell which one is which easily. Here is a guide to Glyphs for Shadow Priests!

Minor Glyphs

Glyph of Fading ~ LvL 15 ~ Reduces the mana cost of your Fade spell by 30%. (1x Midnight Ink, 1x Light Parchment) *Recommended for leveling*

Glyph of Fortitude ~ LvL 15 ~ Reduces the mana cost of your Power Word: Fortitude and Prayer of Fortitude by 50%. (1x Midnight Ink, 1x Light Parchment) *Recommended for leveling*

Glyph of Shackle Undead ~ LvL 20 ~ Increases the range of your Shackle Undead spell by 5 yards. (1x Lion Ink, 1x Light Parchment)

Glyph of Shadow Protection ~ LvL 20 ~ Increase the duration of your Shadow Protection and Prayer of Shadow Protection by 10 minutes. (1x Jadefire Ink, 1x Common Parchment)

Glyph of Levitate ~ LvL 34 ~ Your Levitate spell no longer requires a regeant. (1x Jadefire Ink, 1x Common Parchment) *Recommended for leveling*

Glyph of Shadowfiend
~ LvL 66 ~ Recieves 5% of your max mana if your Shadowfiend dies from damage. (1x Ink of the Sea, 1x Resilient Parchment)

Get in this order >> Glyph of Levitate >> Glyph of Fortitude >> Glyph of Fading
Of course if you use your Shadowfiend to tank adds often enough perhaps switch out Fortitude with Shadowfiend.

Major Glyphs

The following glyphs are not all in the “shadow” tree however for leveling we do need to venture out in my opinion.

Glyph of Fade
~ LvL 15 ~ Reduces the cooldown of your Fade spell by 9 seconds. (1x Lion’s Ink, 1x Common Parchment)

Glyph of Shadow Word: Pain ~ LvL 15 ~ Increases the damage done by your Mind Flay spell by 10% when your target is afflicted with Shadow Word: Pain. (2x Jadefire Ink, 1x Common Parchment) *Recommended for leveling*

Glyph of Psychic Scream ~ LvL 15 ~ Increases the duration of Psychic Scream, and increases the cooldown by 8 seconds. (2x Midnight Ink, 1x Light Parchment)

Glyph of Power Word: Shield ~ LvL 15 ~ Your PW:S also heals the target for 20% of the absorption amount. (1x Midnight Ink, 1x Light Parchment) *Recommended for leveling*

Glyph of Mind Flay ~ LvL 20 ~ Increases the range of Mind Flay by 10 yards, but only reduces the movement speed by 10%. (2x Ethereal Ink, 1x Resilient Parchment) *Recommended for leveling*

Glyph of Mind Control
~ LvL 20 ~ Reduces the chance targets will resist or break your Mind Control by an additional 17%. (1x Ink of the Sea, 1x Resilient Parchment)

Glyph of Shadow ~ LvL 25 ~ While in Shadowform, you spell crits increase your spell power by 10% of your spirit fo 10 seconds. (1x Ink of the Sea, 1x Resilient Parchment) *Recommended for leveling*

Glyph of Shadow Word: Death ~ LvL 62 ~ Targets below 35% health take an additional 10% damage. (1x Ink of the Sea, 1x Resilient Parchment)

Glyph of Mind Sear ~ LvL 75 ~ Increases the radius of the effect by 5 yards. (1x Ink of the Sea, 1x Resilient Parchment)

Get in this order >> Glyph of Shadow Word: Pain >> Glyph of Shadow Word: Shield >> Glyph of Mind Flay or Glyph of Shadow.

Which would you prefer for leveling?

I've heard the reason for the MF one many times, but in all honesty I feel MF is a more useful spell at larger distances. For example, during instances its a pain to have to go closer and closer to a boss especially if its being kited.

IMO, by the time you are done casting MB and VT the mob is pretty much right on you so the movement speed doesn't matter. The only time the mob is not on you is if its a caster and if you don't have the glyph you have to move closer to it after casting VT and MB which again the movement speed doesn't matter.

I agree with Glyph of Shadow, but I have met some priests that prefer to stack a lot of spirit. It may be of use to them. Of course I can't say out of personal experience. ^^

Truth be told, we have some pretty craptastic glyphs. The pickings are low. :D

How do you feel about the minor glyphs?

No way would I recommend the same glyphs for leveling.
First, you have to remember you only get 2 major glyph slots while leveling, one at level 15 and one at level 30.

I'd stick with your order of recommendations, SW: P at 15 and snagging the shield at 30, you don't want to use mind flay one because it keeps your mob away from you longer with the speed. Glyph of Shadow is pretty useless too while leveling because the amount of spirit is too low to negate the shield heal and the damage of sw: p.

PvPriest, Part 2: Arena Duos and Your Role

As a shadow priest, you have a decent amount of control, you're reasonably hardy, but you do not have many methods of saving your partner in a pinch. That means, in a team with two damage classes, you want to get either a frost mage or a rogue for a partner. Read more

Shadow Dueling ~ A Guest Post by Calsong

Protective, shimmering radiance fills the air as you crouch, watching the spot the dagger-wielding rogue disappeared. A Fear Ward is active, but your feet are numb. You pace, reviewing your plan of action as you renew your shield. Suddenly the rogue is upon you, stunning you in place and crippling your movements. This was expected, you reassure yourself whilst spamming the Psychic Scream button. Read more

The Guild – Rules

Last installation I talked about how important rules and recruitment were (and coincidentally, how similar they were to hooking up a girl). This week I'm going to cover all the areas where your dirty little rules should expand to. I'm going to start with quoting three bullets from last week, explain them even more vigorously, and then finally explore the areas where there should be rules. Read more
