Hey guys, just a quick post about the comments, what I hope to happen, what has happened, and some tips. I consider comments extremely important for blogs so I want to offer some sort of explanation. Scroll down for tips on the new comments and how to handle the old comments.
What the heck was the deal with the comments?
After some issues with the new layout it was discovered that the comment system did not work. While searching for ways to fix it I came across a post stating that Commentluv was now available for Blogger! I got excited because Commentluv is awesome. I followed the directions given on the site. It however, did not mention that the base comment service known as JS-Kit was in Beta. Meaning.. there are a lot of bugs. Many of which was experienced on this site. Bugs included: Comments appearing and disappearing at random, posts showing 0 comments even though there were much more than 0, Commentluv not working, double comments being shown, and comments just not being shown at all. The fault of course was my own, I did not test the service on my test blog.
Now we have a new service called Intense Debate. It may not have all the features that JS-Kit had.. then again it certainly doesn’t have all the bugs. One drawback to this was that I could not implement the new service on all the posts because the Blogger Import service is not working and they do not have an ETA on when it’ll be up. So the new service will only be available on posts from here on out and on posts that did not previously have comments.
TL;DR: New service only on new posts.
Tips on Using Both the New Service and Regular Blogger Service
OLD BLOGGER COMMENTS: If you are making a comment on an older post then use TAB to scroll down.
NEW COMMENT SYSTEM: I suggest using the Name/URL option. It will allow anyone who clicks on your name to take them to your blog or site. Make use of the smilies at the top right corner too!
TO GET AN AVATAR: Go here and sign up: Gravatar. Not only will it give you an avatar on this site but on others as well. For example, World of Matticus.
Any Rules?
Not really. I ask that you don’t swear too much. After all a comment filled with F this F that blah blah blah isn’t worth reading in the first place.
Don’t spam or place gold buying/selling sites in comments.
DO place a link to your site! I like finding new places to check out.
