I’m going to be writing a series of posts based on the archetypes of HoN gamers. So far I have the following lined up for a post of their own; The Conceder, The Quiet Noob, The Actual Noob, The Instructor, The Leader, and The Farmer. There may be more. So let’s start with my “favorite” … The Bully.

Ah, the hero selection screen. That’s where you see the first signs. You’ll often find the bully yelling for the rest of his team to pick support or an initiator/tank. Rarely you’ll find them picking a support themselves. Once the game starts they’ll be going through each teammate’s inventory to check what they bought, check what skill they leveled first, and see what lane they attempt to go for. If anything doesn’t follow their way of playing all hell breaks lose. “WTF noob, you didn’t get enough regen!” “Oh.. god.. look our mid didn’t get a bottle.. gg” The argument starts. I say argument, but really it’s just the bully telling you how much of a stupid noob you are. The bully has chosen you. You see, the bully has played every hero, has done every possible research to find the best skill build/item build on every hero, knows S2 personally, and that hero you’re playing.. named after him. He’s that pro.
Say you get past the initial “push in the mud.” Say you don’t actually talk back, not giving into a nerd rage over item builds and skill builds. Remember what mother always said, “Ignore them and they’ll go away.” So you truck on. You get into your lane and start last hitting and denying best you can. However luck doesn’t feel like being on your side right now, oh and mid forgot to call mia, and you give up first blood. The bully sees this and already thinks you’re a noob so he lays into you again. “WTF did I say before noob? Should of listened to me and got xyz instead! Thanks for giving up first blood noob. Fuckin feeder.”
They’re the same in real life. They latch onto someone and they continue to hold any “mistake” that they’ve ever made against them. No matter how small or insignificant. You could win the game and they’ll still say “no thanks to that noob on our team fuckin feeder.”
Things you’ll notice with bullies:
Tell your story of a bully you met or are you a bully yourself?
