This is part 2 of a series I’m writing on Archetypes of HoN gamers. The Bully, The Actual Noob, The Farmer, The Conceder, The Instructor, and The Leader.
As you can see I have two different “Noob” Archetypes. What’s the difference between them? Well, the quiet noob is just new to this game, but has enough common sense to be useful. Often they had a friend get them into the game, but their friend actually took them through a practice game and explained that tower diving is bad. Even though they got a great start for a noob, they still don’t understand abilities of heroes. They don’t understand when to stun, when to ult, when to buy a shaman’s headdress, or when to call MIA. Either from previous bullies yelling at them, or from embarrassment they’ll rarely share that they’re a noob.
I said they can be useful though didn’t I? How? you may ask. All they need is a little bit of direction and they’ll listen. Simple things like telling them they have to initiate, to stun, to hold, or to back they’ll listen. “If he comes up close like that again stun swift.” “I’m going to stun magmus, be ready to jump on him.” “Hey man, you should build elder parasite on chronos.”
They all may seem like obvious things to you, but to a noob they don’t see the signs that you see. They don’t tend to notice that the entire team is MIA. They don’t tend to notice that during early laning seeing an mia call from mid means to be more aware and defensive.
Things you tend to notice with quiet noobs:
Are you the Quiet Noob? Do you know one? I myself started out as this.
